How important is maintenance on a Mazda, and how often should you service your Mazda? The fact is, every Mazda model has unique Mazda service intervals with slightly different items. In order to find the proper Mazda maintenance schedule for your vehicle, you need to consult your owner’s manual. How Important is Maintenance on a MAZDA?

We strongly recommend that our Escondido neighbors stay on top of their recommended Mazda service intervals. Failing to remain in compliance with your Mazda maintenance schedule can put you at odds with your manufacturer warranty, potentially voiding it. What’s more, if you prove that you’ve properly maintained your Mazda when it comes time to sell, you’ll be able to sell your vehicle for quite a bit more down the line. And of course, a properly maintained vehicle is going to last much longer and experience far fewer breakdowns, saving far more money in the long run.

General MAZDA Maintenance Schedule

As we mentioned earlier, this is a general outline of your Mazda service intervals, and may not perfectly reflect the unique Mazda maintenance schedule for your particular model. To give you some rules of thumb, however, review a common flow for the average maintenance schedule below:

  • Once a Year: Disc brake inspection
  • Once Every Two Years: Tighten bolts and nuts on chassis and body, and check fuel lines/hoses, brake lines, hoses, and connections, steering operation, driveshaft dust boost, as well as front and rear suspension
  • Once Every Three Years: Check drive belts
  • Once Every Four Years: Check the tubes and hoses of your emission and exhaust system, as well as your heat shields
  • Change Oil and Replace Filter: Every 12 months/10,000-miles if you have a “Flexible” oil change monitor system. If you have a “Fixed” oil change monitor setting, replace your oil every 6 months, and your engine filter at 30,000 miles, and your cabin air filter every 2 years
  • Rotate Tires: Every 5,000 miles
  • Change Engine Coolant: Every 120,000/10-years or 60,000-miles/4-years, depending on the quality of the coolant you’re using
  • Change Spark Plugs: Every 75,000 miles
